About this role

Woodlands Farm Trust is looking for a Project Steward to lead 'Our Green Blueprint', an exciting 6-12 month participative planning process to shape the next phase of London's largest agroecological farm. You will hold the project together from start to finish, providing guidance, coordination, inclusive facilitation and orchestration to ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget. You will lead engagement with the farm's community and stakeholders, help appoint project consultants, and act as the internal client to ensure all outputs are grounded in WFT's mission, community and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and categorise the farm's existing and potentially new stakeholders, including creating a stakeholder map
  • Develop the project plan, brief and initial stakeholder engagement approach
  • Assist with procurement of governance, business case, and communications consultants
  • Review governance arrangements, risk register and consultant contracts
  • Steward the inclusive engagement process across all project stages
  • Maintain momentum, manage timelines and keep the WFT Board and stakeholders informed
  • Ensure under-represented groups and community members are genuinely involved
  • Support development of the business plan and partnership arrangements
  • Provide effective client function, reviewing and giving feedback on all outputs
  • Coordinate logistics for events, workshops and the project launch
  • Manage the project budget (c.£40k) and lead reporting to Esmée Fairbairn Foundation
  • Support complementary funding applications
  • Regularly convene the project steering group

Requirements

  • Experience of leading or stewarding complex, multi-stakeholder projects
  • Understanding of and passion for the food system, farming or environmental sustainability
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
  • Commitment to inclusive and participative ways of working
  • Eligible to work in the UK
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with Woodlands Farm, Sitopia Farm or the agroecological sector
  • Experience of community engagement or co-design processes
  • Knowledge of charity or social enterprise governance
  • Knowledge and experience of fundraising for UK charities
