About this role

Kairos is looking for a Generalist (Groups) to support AI safety group organizers through the Pathfinder Fellowship and shape what Kairos does for university groups next. This role involves helping run the Pathfinder Fellowship, organizing in-person events, seeding new groups at universities, and supporting strong organizers in transitioning to full-time work in AI safety.

  • Seed new groups by finding and supporting founders at strong universities without AI safety groups
  • Help organizers transition to full-time work in AI safety, whether continuing to organize or moving into research, policy, or operations
  • Build systems behind the program, improving infrastructure and automating work
  • Pitch in on broader Kairos work including SPAR, Generator, and Global Challenges Project as capacity allows

Requirements

  • Past university AI safety group organizer experience
  • Mission-aligned with context on AI safety and understanding of the ecosystem
  • High agency and ability to figure things out without a playbook
  • People-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Kairos's university groups programs (preferred)
  • Experience with event planning or community building (preferred)
  • Track record of starting and shipping things independently (preferred)
