Entrepreneur-in-Residence

GovAI is looking for an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. This is a one-year salaried position for people who want to start a new organization or project in AI governance and safety. You will identify, test, and launch a new organization or an ambitious project within an existing organization, with support from GovAI's team, seed funding, and access to their network.

• Identify, test, and launch a new organization or ambitious project within an existing organization
• Work with GovAI's senior team through regular thought partnership sessions and work-in-progress feedback
• Develop and refine your idea with support from mentors and advisors
• Build relationships with funders, potential co-founders, and early hires
• Pressure-test your thinking within GovAI's research community
• By the end of the residency, launch an independent organization or promising project with introductions to funders for transition

• A track record of getting things done and being entrepreneurial; you've built, led, or shipped something impressive
• At least some context on AI governance and safety, and an ability to get up to speed quickly
• Good judgment; you make good calls under uncertainty, prioritize well, and know how to solicit input when you don't know something
• Ability to evaluate projects based on impact
• Intellectual honesty and rigor
• Receptiveness to feedback and commitment to self-improvement
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• No specific educational requirements
