About this role
Good Impressions is looking for a Head of Operations. As a nonprofit startup creating engagement to solve critical problems, Good Impressions has recently raised $9.4M and needs an experienced operator to own how the organisation runs internally, freeing up the founder to focus on vision, strategy, and external work.
You'll report directly to the Founder/CEO and be responsible for building the Operating System that enables the entire organisation to thrive.
Responsibilities
- Run the planning and accountability rhythm: quarterly and annual goal-setting, and follow-through between cycles
- Run team meetings, plus documentation and follow-ups
- Pick, build, and run systems the org works in: goal tracking, project management, CRM, internal tooling, and file organization
- Build AI and automation into how the organization works
- Monitor operational health: runway, cost-effectiveness, utilization, and organizational numbers
- Own reporting and risk tracking
- Build the people function: hiring systems, compensation policy, employee handbook, onboarding/offboarding
- Own team events
- Own the back office: finance, compliance, treasury, tax, payroll, governance administration
- Manage operations agency and vendor relationships
- Manage IT, security, and device policy
Requirements
- Operator experience: owned operations of an organization roughly this size (5-30 people), ideally as it grew
- Reliability: deliver autonomously with limited oversight, identify and own problems end to end
- Direction and efficiency: point effort at the right things, know the difference between working smarter vs harder
- AI forward: Claude Code power user, integrate AI into what you're building
- Mission and values alignment: care about critical problems and align with organizational values
- [Plus] Nonprofit governance, finance, and compliance experience, ideally with Canadian nonprofits
