Engagement Manager, AI Risk

Good Impressions is looking for an Engagement Manager who deeply understands the AI risk landscape.

This role leads paid advertising campaigns designed to educate key decision makers on important issues, recruit participants for programs, and drive impact in AI safety communications. You'll own campaigns end-to-end, from strategy through execution and analysis, working with a small, talented team to communicate critical messages to the right audiences at the right time.

• Lead campaigns end-to-end: meet with clients to understand goals and context, set campaign strategy (audiences, messaging, channels), own creative and messaging, and launch campaigns across platforms,
• Execute complex, multi-stakeholder projects while maintaining momentum and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks,
• Partner with the Campaign Manager to monitor performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and iterate quickly,
• Analyse and communicate results and recommended next steps, keeping clients in the loop throughout,
• Build strong relationships with clients and communicate clearly, proactively, and with reasoning transparency,
• Stay responsive while managing multiple concurrent projects,
• Use knowledge of the AI safety landscape to identify critical communication gaps and shape the field,
• Stay current with AI capabilities, risks, policy developments, and public narratives,
• Share AI safety knowledge and communications expertise with other organisations to strengthen the field,
• Build, automate, and document processes, and pilot new offerings,
• Continually experiment with AI tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness,
• Occasionally take on projects in other cause areas when needed

• Strong AI risk competency: embedded in and trusted by the AI safety community, understand key concepts and players, stay current on AI developments and policy,
• Ability to navigate Bay Area rationalist culture,
• Professional services experience in high-expectation environments such as management consulting,
• At least 5 years of professional work experience,
• Proactive communication, strong organisation, excellent decision-making, and rigour to build strong client relationships,
• Deep alignment with company values: impact first, own the mission, look for better ways, be radically helpful, overcommunicate, constantly improve,
• High motivation to reduce AI risk and see communications as an important part of doing so,
