About this role

The European Medicines Agency is looking for a Communication Officer. EMA is creating a Reserve List for a Communication Officer to join a collaborative and ambitious team that translates complex scientific work into clear, engaging content that supports public and animal health.

The successful candidate will be passionate about storytelling and motivated by the mission of protecting public health through accessible, impactful communications, helping shape strong narratives and translate them into multi-platform content.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of communication strategies and initiatives that contribute to EMA's priorities and address stakeholder needs
  • Plan, produce, coordinate and publish engaging, user-centred content, ensuring best practices and alignment with corporate messaging and branding
  • Contribute to multi-channel communication campaigns, including co-creative initiatives with stakeholders and evaluation of impact
  • Deliver day-to-day communication activities, including research, drafting, review and publishing tasks, monitoring trends and performance, and reporting insights for evidence-based decisions

Requirements

General Eligibility:

  • Full rights as a citizen of a European Union Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway
  • Thorough knowledge of English (at least level C1) and satisfactory knowledge of another official EU language (at least level B2)
  • Fulfilled any obligations imposed by applicable laws concerning military service
  • Completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma
Experience:
  • At least 2 years relevant professional experience in communication roles
  • Professional experience from a communication role in an English-speaking communication environment, ideally in a regulatory, medical or scientific field and in an international context
  • Experience and knowledge of good practices in one or more of: web editing and management, media relations, social-media management
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Writing skills in English, with proven ability to rework complex concepts into clear, organised and engaging content
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
Nice to Have:
  • Experience applying a range of communication tools and methods (social media, influencers, articles, speech writing, video, AI-supported content creation tools)
  • Monitoring communication performance metrics and preparing basic analytics summaries
  • Working in a multicultural environment
  • Knowledge of science communication principles
  • Knowledge of EU pharmaceutical legislation
