About this role
The Centre for Effective Altruism is looking for Events Associates and Senior Associates to join its Events teams (EA Global, EAGx, and AI Events).
Rather than filling a single fixed role, CEA is running a combined round and will calibrate seniority and scope based on candidates' strengths.
These roles involve managing operations, relationships, and logistics for some of the world's largest effective altruism conferences and convenings, with opportunities to develop expertise in running world-class events at scale.
Responsibilities
- Support admissions processes, including reviewing applications and travel support requests
- Administer event systems including Swapcard, Slack, and Salesforce, and troubleshoot issues
- Support content and programming – coordinate speakers, choose priority topics, and maintain curation systems
- Manage team inbox and respond to attendee inquiries
- Assist with onsite logistics including registration, session management, and real-time attendee support
- Serve as primary point of contact for organisers throughout event lifecycles (EAGx focus)
- Review and give feedback on event plans, content lineups, and admissions processes
- Coordinate logistics and infrastructure across multiple simultaneous events
- Track event outcomes and synthesise learnings to improve organiser support
- Support onsite production for events where CEA staff are present
- Write bespoke attendee communications and maintain event information systems
- Support technical production onsite, including AV and room setups
Requirements
- Take ownership and spot what needs doing without waiting to be asked
- Manage and implement projects effectively with planning, attention to detail, time management, and sustained effort
- Highly organised and detail-oriented with systems to stay on top of things
- Can juggle multiple tasks simultaneously without being overwhelmed
- Excellent written communicator who adjusts tone and content for different audiences
- Responsive to feedback and actively seek to improve your work
- Interested in effective altruism and curious about CEA's mission
- Willing to sprint around event delivery deadlines
- Energised by empowering others and making it easier for attendees, organisers, and colleagues to do their best work
- For Senior Associate level: track record of independent ownership running projects or relationships with minimal oversight, and comfort navigating complex stakeholder dynamics
- Preference for candidates able to work between US Pacific Time and CET
