Job Description
HOPE not hate are looking to hire a Campaigns Officer on a one year contract to support our work tackling the growing trend of anti climate action by the radical and far right and the threats this poses to cohesive and sustainable communities.
This role will work across our organisation and with partners within the climate sector to develop:
- local and national campaigns which fight disinformation and climate apathy
- interventions on climate action and protecting the natural environment whilst building trust in democratic institutions.
What success in this role looks like:
- You’ll be working with our team of community organisers to identify how the far-right are lowering ambitions to take on climate change. You’ll devise and deliver campaigns to build local pressure to change that protect the natural environment and community spaces.
- You’ll work as a conduit between partners and our research team to monitor anti-climate sentiment in the far-right and how local decision makers are responding.
- You’ll use our data and insight to identify the best interventions for local communities to strengthen resolve to tackle climate change
- You’ll represent HOPE not hate in broader coalitions and partnerships with climate and nature organisations.
Role Requirements
- Someone with experience of planning, developing and running campaigns both locally and nationally. Experience in the climate sector is a plus.
- Someone who has experience of working in partnership, managing and collaborating with stakeholders and building campaigns that are greater than the sum of their parts.
- Someone with deep respect for communities susceptible to the far-right and the issues and policies which give rise to them.
- Someone who can demonstrate emotional resilience when working on a tough issue in a high pressure context. We understand that our work can be stressful and have support in place for all team members who need it but we encourage applicants to think carefully about whether they are prepared to work on this subject area day in and day out.
