Job Description

The mission of a Project Manager is to design and execute high-impact communications projects, with a focus on campaigns that pressure food companies to improve their animal welfare standards. You will work closely with Diane Doran, who leads Good Impressions’ animal welfare work, to develop our corporate campaign offering and provide fresh ideas for maximising impact.

Responsibilities

Core Project Management

  • Discovery: Meet with clients to thoroughly understand their goals, constraints, and the broader context of their work in the animal welfare movement before beginning a project
  • Project Development: Work with the Good Impressions team and external specialists to develop comprehensive strategies—whether that’s a social media campaign, a podcast tour, or a documentary distribution plan.
  • Implementation: Execute complex, multi-stakeholder projects while maintaining momentum and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
  • Optimization: Monitor project performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and iterate quickly based on feedback and results
  • Reporting: Analyze and communicate project results and recommended next steps, ensuring clients understand what we’re doing and stay in the loop throughout the process

  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding that we succeed when they succeed
  • Communication Excellence: Maintain clear, proactive, and professional client communication that demonstrates reasoning transparency 
  • Responsive Support: Maintain high responsiveness to client needs while managing multiple concurrent projects

Farmed Animal Welfare  Movement Expertise

  • Ecosystem Tracking: Help your team stay current with corporate campaign news and tactics, and public narratives to ensure your communications remain relevant and impactful
  • Advising: Share your knowledge and experience with other organizations in the ecosystem to strengthen the field’s overall communication capacity
  • Proactive Project Identification: Develop deep knowledge of the FAW landscape to help identify critical communication gaps that Good Impressions should address

Organisational Initiatives

  • Scaling Support: Assist in special projects to help Good Impressions continue to operationalise and scale our organisation, such as building, automating, and documenting processes, or piloting new offerings
  • AI tools: Continually experimenting with new to use technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of your work 
  • Additional cause areas: Occasionally, take on high-impact projects in other cause areas (global health, EA community development, etc.) when high impact need arise that we otherwise wouldn’t be able to support

Role Requirements

We will evaluate candidates across five areas:

1. Professional Services Experience

  • Successful track record in a high-expectation professional services environment like management consulting or account management
  • Strong customer success mentality—you demonstrate the level of proactive communication, organisation, trust-building, and rigour required to forge and maintain strong client relationships
  • Ability to navigate both mainstream professional environments and fast-moving startup environments – comfortable operating without a blueprint
  • At least 3 years experience in a professional work environment

2.  Clear Communicator

  • This role does not require previous experience working directly in digital marketing or other communications professions (this is because we believe it is learnable and we will teach you)
  • However, you should be skilled in communicating clearly, tactfully, and impactfully to a variety of different audiences. 
  • Direct experience in marketing or communications work would be an asset

3. Will

You care deeply about reducing animal suffering and see communications as an important part of doing so. You’re highly motivated to join our team.

4. Values Alignment

5. Animal Welfare Competency

  • You demonstrate a personal commitment to the cause, whether through your consumer choices, donations, or advocacy efforts
  • Strong familiarity with key concepts, key players, and ongoing debates in the animal advocacy movement
  • You stay up to date on animal policy developments, news, and initiatives 
  • Ability to navigate conversations with a variety of people who may hold differing views on the best approaches to making change for animals
