Job Description

The Tech Governance Project (TGov) is an early-stage initiative led by Zakariyau Yusuf, supported by a team of advisors. It envisions responsible technological innovation that empowers society and improves the quality of life for a brighter future.

TGov’s approach is centred on improving awareness of risks and governance gaps and enhancing stakeholder relationships for improved governance. TGov’s plan to achieve its solutions through:

  1. Research and analysis on risks and governance practice to identify gaps and opportunities for improved governance.
  2. Stakeholder workshops and discussions to share finding, improve understanding, and foster knowledge.
  3. Small-scale policy demonstration with stakeholders to evaluate, refine, and advance policy ideas.

TGov’s overall mission is to improve tech governance of AI and bio in Africa through stakeholder collaborations, reducing risks, and to foster responsible tech governance in the African region.

As the Head of Policy at TGov, your work will significantly impact the project and shape its direction. You will play a vital role in governance analysis, designing our policy lever, and engaging in stakeholders in deployment, such as through small-scale demonstrations or dialogue and workshops to improve knowledge and understanding and advance policy ideas.

Role Requirements

As a startup project, this is a highly dynamic and impactful opportunity with substantial personal and professional growth potential. We are looking for someone with generalist abilities, including communication, stakeholder relationships, and interpersonal abilities, and some familiarity with effective altruism.

Both payment and time commitments are negotiable, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. Likewise, the initial contract will be fixed with so much potential for extensions.
