Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Web Developer to manage coding, design and functionality of our websites on a part-time basis (10-20 hours per week). The successful candidate will have experience building and maintaining engaging websites, ensuring they are user-friendly, accessible, and aligned with organisational goals.
Although this a remote, part-time position, the successful candidate will available between 9am-3 pm Pacific Time on weekdays.
Responsibilities
As Web Developer at Switch4Good, you will be responsible for the following:
Website Development & Maintenance:
- Build and maintain responsive, user-friendly websites that provide a seamless experience across devices.
- Ensure high performance, security, and scalability.
- Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling our sites.
- Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs.
- Stay plugged into industry trends and best practices and apply them to our web sites.
Site Hosting:
- Manage Cloudways/WordPress web hosting.
Content Management System (CMS) Implementation:
- Manage, configure, and customise (when necessary) our WordPress CMS.
- Create HTML eBlasts/newsletters as needed.
- Provide support and training to team members on content updates.
UI/UX Optimisation:
- Collaborate with designers to implement engaging and accessible user interfaces— ensuring a smooth and intuitive user experience – utilising best HTML/CSS practices.
- Make recommendations to improve UI/UX.
Integration with Third-Party Tools:
- Implement and maintain integrations with tools like email marketing platforms, donation systems, and CRM platforms.
- Integrate data from back-end BI platform.
SEO & Web Analytics:
- Optimise websites for search engines and track performance using analytics tools.
- Provide SEO insights to improve user engagement and traffic.
Technical Support:
- Troubleshoot and resolve website issues as needed.
- Provide ongoing support to ensure websites remain functional and up to date.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with Marketing, Development/Fundraising, Education, and other content creators to ensure web solutions align with organisation’s campaigns and goals.
- Collaborate with team to ensure overall site design, layout, and tone of voice match organisation’s branding and messaging goals.
Role Requirements
We are looking for candidates that have the following skills and experience:
- Proven working experience in web development with minimum 5-year track record.
- Experience working remotely.
- Experience (or demonstrable interest) in nonprofit sector or mission-driven organisations.
- Solid coding skills with in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS.
- Proficient in front-end languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Deep knowledge of WordPress CMS—including plug-ins like Zapier.
- Expertise with WordPress and Divi theme customisation.
- Basic Javascript/Query skills.
- Experience with web hosting environments and domain management.
- Familiarity with responsive design, mobile optimisation, and accessibility standards (WCAG).
- HTML coding for eBlasts, newsletters on Salsa platform.
- Expertise in Google Analytics.
- Solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and development best practices.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design and familiarity with popular design software tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to speak up and tell us when we are wrong.
- Passion for nutrition, public health, or community outreach.
