We are a growing nonprofit dedicated to ending factory farming, and we are seeking a passionate and experienced Campaigns Specialist to join our team!
Responsibilities
As a Campaign Specialist at New Roots Institute, you will:
- Coach and support fellows in designing and launching impactful advocacy campaigns that align with New Roots Institute’s mission to end factory farming.
- Build relationships with external campaign advisors from partner organisations to provide fellows with broader opportunities for learning, impact, and collaboration.
- Support the development of fellows advocacy skills through the delivery and implementation of our campaign-focused curriculum across a variety of learning modalities including workshops, coaching sessions, and assignments.
- Facilitate group and 1:1 coaching, helping fellows build confidence and skills in advocacy strategy, stakeholder engagement, and campus organising.
- Support the hiring, development, and light-touch management of part-time Teaching Fellows and staff campaign coaches.
- Track and monitor campaign progress to help identify success stories and key learnings for internal reporting and public storytelling.
- Work cross-functionally with New Roots staff to align campaign strategy, curriculum, and fellow support with organisational goals.
Role Requirements
This role requires someone who is:
- A trained and skilled coach or mentor, with a track record of helping emerging leaders build confidence, develop advocacy or organising skills, and take meaningful action.
- Strategic in their thinking.
- Able to guide others in aligning day-to-day decisions with long-term goals, navigating trade-offs, and adapting plans to maximise impact.
- Effective at leading or contributing to impactful change initiatives through advocacy, community organising, volunteer recruitment and management, or related areas.
- An excellent communicator.
- Has built strong, trust-based relationships across diverse groups and successfully navigated sensitive or high-stakes conversations to move work forward with care
- A collaborative team member, known for clear, proactive communication and for giving and receiving candid, constructive feedback that strengthens shared work and accountability.
- Organised and systems-oriented, with a history of creating or improving structures that lead to smooth program operations, clear progress toward goals, and consistently strong participant experiences.
