Job Description

Magnify Mentoring has three related workstreams (Community,  Mentorship, and Recruitment). You will primarily assist the CEO with the Recruitment workstream. Many Magnify Mentoring mentees are looking for high-impact opportunities and we frequently receive requests for tailored candidate referrals from impactful organisations. This role will primarily focus on deepening and realising a current opportunity for impact in this area.

This is a highly people-facing role. Due to the size of the organisation, it is likely that, with your input, your role and responsibilities will evolve over time. Guidance and active support will be provided regarding all of the below, including support from advisors, consultants, and the CEO, but we expect particularly successful candidates to be comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Have onboarding calls at the beginning of each mentoring cycle with all mentees who are actively seeking work to help understand their interests and skills.
  • Provide gentle encouragement and tailored recommendations to mentees on building and applying their skills and experiences.
  • Build and maintain a high-level understanding of job-seeking individuals in the Magnify Mentoring network, including mentors and current and former mentees.
  • Develop proactive relationships with Hiring Managers across a broad, multi-cause spectrum of altruistic, evidence-based organisations.
  • Work on both sides of the recruitment relationship: with Hiring Managers to identify talented candidates, and with job-seekers to encourage them to apply for relevant roles.
  • Work with the Community Project Manager and CEO to identify opportunities to cultivate the skills of Magnify Mentoring’s job-seekers and help them overcome barriers to accessing suitable opportunities.
  • Attend relevant conferences with a focus on meeting job-seeking individuals and encouraging them to apply to Magnify Mentoring for support.
  • Assist in matching mentees and mentors with the broader Magnify team during peak busy periods (ordinarily matching occurs 3–4 times a year).

Role Requirements

  • You have experience with recruitment or talent-matching activities, such as supporting hiring processes, advising candidates, and connecting individuals to suitable roles or opportunities.
  • You enjoy people-facing work and feel energised by 1:1 conversations and relationship building activities.
  • You are excited to support people, including those early in their careers, to achieve their goals.
  • You have experience working successfully with people from a diversity of backgrounds, including neurodivergent people and those from low- to middle-income households, and a history of creating warm, welcoming interactions.
  • You care about diversity and inclusivity and prioritize an action-oriented, forward-facing, and collaborative approach.
  • You are a careful, empathetic, and skilled communicator.
  • You are self-motivated and have the ability to work independently.
  • You are a safe set of hands for a small, scaling organisation. For example, you are professional, respect confidentiality, and can work on tasks in a reliable way even if they are mundane and occasionally boring.
  • You care about doing good effectively and adopting an evidence-based approach. However, you also understand that this leads people to varying conclusions, and you can respectfully support a diversity of approaches.

How to apply?

To apply for this role, please email Kathryn (kathryn@magnifymentoring.org) a resume or an updated LinkedIn profile and a cover letter addressing:
