Job Description

As an Operations Assistant, you will support the Operations Lead in managing Forecasting Research Institute’s operations across the board.

Example tasks will depend on the candidate’s skillset, but may include:

  • Conducting initial research for operations projects
  • Basic monthly and quarterly bookkeeping
  • Supporting the Operations Lead to develop and document key internal processes and policies
  • Improving our Google Drive infrastructure
  • Summarising meeting notes to identify and follow up on action points
  • General administrative tasks, such as checking our voicemail or updating the website
  • Owning small projects from start to finish

This role is entirely remote with a preference for candidates who can start immediately. Applicants can work whichever hours of the day work for them but must occasionally be able to attend meetings between 11am and 3pm ET.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and the hiring process typically involves the following:

  • An initial application
  • An initial 30-minute work test
  • A paid 4-hour work test
  • Up to three 45-minute interviews with members of our team

Role Requirements

This is an entry-level role, ideally suited for someone looking for flexible working conditions.

The ideal candidate would have the following characteristics, but do not let this list prevent you from applying:

  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and own projects from start to finish
  • Clear, explicit communicator
  • Strong writing and numeracy skills
  • Familiarity with, and interest in, forecasting or effective altruism
  • Ability to work productively in a self-directed (remote) environment
  • Comfort taking on new challenges and learning new tools – we particularly value proactive use of time-saving tools such as ChatGPT
  • Experience in an operations or administrative role is advantageous but not required

We are aware that women and those from minority groups are less likely to apply for roles if they don’t meet every single criteria. We highly encourage you to apply, even if you don’t feel completely qualified. Some of the best people we’ve worked with in our careers felt underqualified when they first applied, and we’re glad they did so anyway.
