- Applications closing: Rolling but aiming to fill by mid-October
Job Description
The conference organiser will work closely with the Chief of Staff and the Events Manager to ensure that the Degrees Global Forum meets our high standards of excellence. To give a sense of scale, the Forum will last five days. We aim for 250 participants from dozens of countries.
We already have five people, including a South Africa-based conference organiser, who are responsible for ensuring the event’s different components are comfortably on track. Your responsibility will be to coordinate their work and to ensure that there are no gaps in our work.
The position’s terms, including precise compensation, will depend on the candidate.
Role Requirements
We seek someone with at least five years of experience organising international academic and other multi-day conferences of more than 200 international, on-site participants. Ideally, this would include organising events in the Global South. As an independent contractor, you will control the details of your work: where, when, and how. We are interested in results. We expect you to be available for a few conversations per week with our UK-based team (with partners in continental Europe and in South Africa).
At this point, we believe this work will initially require two days/16 hours per week, increasing as the event draws near.
How to apply?
To apply, please fill out the application form below. You will receive a reply confirming receipt of the application.
We will review applications on a rolling basis and conduct interviews with appropriate candidates; as such, there is no deadline.
