Job Description

Cycle Sisters has grown hugely over the past few years, with an expanded range of programmes and activity in many more boroughs than when we first set up. We are keen to continue this journey of growth and have just finalised a new strategy for 2024-2027 which prioritises reaching more women and girls.

The Project Coordinator will play a critical role, overseeing the delivery of cycling activities for women and girls in London.

The post-holder will need to have excellent planning, logistics and organisational skills as well as the ability to establish strong relationships and rapport with a wide range of individuals and organisations.

Below is a list of responsibilities which provide a broad outline of the role. This is not an exhaustive list as Cycle Sisters is a small team which requires flexibility. This will be a highly collaborative role, working with other team members including other Project Coordinators, Operations Lead and Communications & Media Lead, all of whom work on a part-time basis.

Responsibilities

As a Project Coordinator at Cycle Sisters, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop delivery plans in line with agreed project objectives and deliverables.
  • Organise and coordinate events and activities such as led cycle rides, cycle lessons, volunteer training, bike maintenance courses and sportives (this includes WhatsApp group management)
  • Manage teams of volunteers to deliver group rides.  Work with the Operations Lead to facilitate the Volunteer Development Programme to ensure volunteers feel valued and supported.
  • Build relationships with community groups and leaders; carry out outreach to promote projects and recruit women and girls to participate
  • Build partnerships with councils and other relevant stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
  • Work with the Communications & Media Lead to identify stories and case studies from the projects, and support with developing content for social media, website etc.
  • Collect monitoring data and learnings to be able to demonstrate impact in line with agreed M & E systems; produce reports for funders and partners as required

Role Requirements

Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single requirement. At Cycle Sisters, we are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive organisation, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with everything listed below, we would encourage you to still apply. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Essential skills and experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience of managing projects and/or events in a charity or similar role
  • Organisational and logistical skills with ability to multi-task
  • Time management skills with ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Ability to be self-directed and work independently
  • Strong administrative and IT skills (we use Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Eventbrite, databases) with good attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to network and build relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Written communication skills including ability to write for different audiences e.g. reports for funders, WhatsApp messages for participants, emails to partners
  • Ability to mobilise and inspire community members and provide culturally and religiously sensitive support
  • Experience and understanding of Muslim communities and of the networks and stakeholders Cycle Sisters engages with
  • Commitment to the aims and values of Cycle Sisters including inclusion and diversity

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with and managing volunteers
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation and writing reports for funders
  • Experience of and passion for cycling, active travel or sport in general
