Concentric Policies are looking for a French/Portuguese Speaking Communications Intern on a part-time basis. This is a remote role in a Charity Entrepreneurship incubated charity focused on policy advocacy.

Job Description

Concentric Policies is an emerging actor in the field of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) with core competencies in advocacy, political economy analysis, and operations. We support the adoption and implementation of highly cost-effective interventions for NCDs by engaging government stakeholders, connecting policymakers with technical experts, producing contextually tailored evidence, and mobilizing Civil Society. Concentric Policies has been a Network Member of the NCD Alliance since February, 2024.

As our Communications Intern, you will help drive progress on one or more of our organisation’s current priorities, through tasks which include  but are not limited to the following:

  1. Increase health research accessibility through French/Portuguese copywriting
  2. Liaise with local NGO and civil society organisation partners and conduct outreach
  3. Interpret calls with government and NGO officials
  4. Translate policy briefs

Specific job functions may include:

  • Translating a policy brief from English to French/Portuguese to send to government officials
  • Interpreting calls for the co-founders with a range of relevant stakeholders
  • Supporting communications with local health NGOs

This role provides strong learning opportunities and credentials for people looking to enter a long term career in the EA movement, Communications, or charity entrepreneurship.

Role Requirements

We are looking for a candidate that has:

  • Written and/or verbal fluency in both English and French/Portuguese,
  • Strong communication, writing, and stakeholder skills,
  • Willingness to learn,
  • Adaptability,
  • Ability to synthesise content (e.g. reports) to produce reader-friendly summaries.

Preferred but not required:

  • Interpretation or translation experience,
  • Experience in or familiarity with Francophone/Lusophone Africa,
  • Background in public health,
  • Policy experience,
  • A good understanding of effective altruism concepts.
